CHRISTMAS STORMS AND SUNSHINE
RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CALUES : CITIZEN AND COMMITMENT.
Okay, in order to ya to understand how the tow values citizen and commitment relate to the story Christmas stones and sunshine we need to know the meaning of those words. Let’s start with the meaning of citizen, in the internet it says that citizen is a legally recognized subject or national of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized, and the other word is Commitment that is
the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc... o an engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action. Now that we know what is the meaning of those words we are able to make the relationship of those words with the meaning.
I think that the two words are not similar they had different meaning and are using in a different context in our usual days. If I did not read the story I could not find a relationship with any of those words but I can say that it relates and are part of the story because of the characters behavior. I am going to first talking about the story, then how I reflect and see how those values are in the story their relationship and the my conclusion and basically what I think of it, my point of view and how I see everything through the story.
In the begging of the story we see two families the Jenkins and the Hudson. They have this fight for who is better and wh lives a better life in my opinion. They always hate each other and did terrible things to each other. Eventually their animals were part of the fight, they have a cat fight because of the Jenkins and beside that everything that the Jenkins have it the Hudson’s will wanna it too but they had to work hard for it. They also hated each other because of the newspaper, they have different positions and they were two different sneed papá re that made each other their competition. So now that we know that they have this (let’s called hate) hate for each other because of their jelousy m, envy and immature we can see how dumbs the whol fight was. Then the Jenkins have a baby who guess what the Hudson’s could not have any kid so they were devastated to know that their enemy was mere having a baby and they do not, so beside that the Jenkins baby almost die because of a breathing problem and was a bad momennt for the Jenkins so the wife of the Jenkins because of that experience she wanna it to cuenta the hate-relationship with them and because of a letter of her mom saying that she needs to forgive and try to make things better. So because of that the wife deduce that it was time to end this hate for each other this envy that they had so she decide to invite them to a Christmas dinner in order to fix their differences to make their relationship good, we can see that the wife’s tried to make everything good and love the past in the past so they can have a lovely and happy life. I really like that they make their differences part and try to cuente it into a good relationship because in my opinion I though that that was really dumb and was not good to have those relationship with anyone, and two old families , two adult people that is supposed to them to be mature live I this relationship of hate, I think that is really stupid and nonsense. Her intention is also to show how hate can take us to do things we actually dont want to or dont mean to ,and how can take us to lose such important values, and that as humans we should just accept each other the way we are no matter our preferences, religion, politicas, economical asepcts, we are all the same but we think different. The value citizenship is reflect on the way that the husbads who were the compositors of opposite political newspapers are the ones who fight the less even if they have diferent preferences and and how the wifes that are just humans dont have a good relationship. Commitment is shown in how both wifes are so nice to their husbands and they are always there when they need them and also related to commitment miss hodgson have a responsability and is to take care of her baby and miss jenkins have the responsability to take care of her cat. One of the situations that shows commitment is when miss hodgson kicked the cat because he destroyed mr hodgson dinner but after this she realised that she shoudnt have done this because he was just a poor animal. In a moment of the story the hodgsons baby get sick of a respiratory desease and to save him miss hodgson needed hot water so she goes to the jenkins house to ask for some because they lived in the same building and miss jenkins refused because the water was for mr.jenkins dinner, but after this, the value of citizenship is shown because as a neighbor miss jenkins understood that her husband food wasnt more important then the babys live so she applied the value and decided to go and help the hodgsons and finally save the babys live.
I really like how the story twisted in the end and how the character have like a bond momento so they love their past behind and maybe not being friends but stop having this like bad vide every time that they have something that they did not have it or whatever the problem was, they need to be mature and fix those relationships. I think that the values of commitment are really reflected in the story, in the characters like their wife. But I think that those two values are the only ones, Kim forgiveness also because their decide to split their differences.
